Additional application support during the pandemic

We understand that the pandemic might mean you don't have access to all your previous work or the facilities you usually would have. This might mean that it's more challenging for you to prepare for your interview, particularly if you've been asked to create a portfolio or record a performance. We don't want you to worry about this so we've provided some helpful advice to support you.

    Your apply journey

Applying to Falmouth is simple. We've outlined each step of the process here so you know what to expect and when.

    • 1. Apply
    • 2. Confirmation
    • 3. Interviews
    • 4. Preparing for your interview
    • 5. Your offer
    • 6. Accepting your offer
    1. Apply

    Apply through UCAS

Wherever you are in the world, whether you are in further education, planning on transferring from another institution or not currently studying, you can apply through UCAS. If you're unable to use UCAS, just get in touch. We're here to help.

When applying through UCAS you'll need to reference the UCAS code for your course, which can be found on your course page, as well as the Falmouth University UCAS code: F33.

    International applications

To apply as an international student you can apply via UCAS, through an agent in your country or directly to the University. Find out more on our international applications page

    Online degree applications

You can apply for an online degree by filling out our direct application form online. Find out more by visiting our apply for an online degree page

    Application advice

For information about how to write a personal statement, head to our personal statement guide

We're also hosting a range of online events to help you with your application. Keep an eye on our upcoming events to get expert advice.

    Additional needs

If you have any additional needs, disabilities or are a carer, let us know about it on your UCAS form. This will help us to take your circumstances into consideration and give you any additional support you might need.

    2. Confirmation

Once you've submitted your application, you'll get an email to confirm that we've received it. This should arrive within two working days, so keep an eye on your inbox.

    The Applicant Portal

We'll email you with instructions and a login for the Applicant Portal, where you'll see what else you need to do. You can upload documents like ID and proof of residency to the Applicant Portal.

You'll also find details of your own Applicant Services team member. They'll guide you through the whole application process and answer any questions you have.

     Visit Applicant Portal

    3. Interviews

If your application shows potential, we'll invite you to an interview via the Applicant Portal. This year, all our interviews will take place online.

Interviews give you the opportunity to demonstrate your creative skills. They are also a great way for you to get to know Falmouth better and find out if it's the best fit for you.

If you can't make the interview date you've been given, there's no need to worry. Just log into the Applicant Portal and select a preferred date.

    4. Preparing for your interview

At Falmouth, we assess every applicant on their enthusiasm, potential and drive to succeed, rather than just their grades. That's why we'll ask you to put together a portfolio of your work, prepare a performance or deliver a pitch, depending on your chosen course. This means we can learn about your ability, style and personality.

Visit our Preparing for your interview page to find your course and check what you'll need to prepare before your interview.

    Performance

If you're applying for an audition-based course, such as a performance or music subject, you'll need to record your performance or music and upload a link via the Applicant Portal in order to secure your interview date.

If you don't have a piece already prepared, that's OK. You can develop a performance in response to one of the Falmouth Challenges instead.

    Portfolio

If you are applying for a portfolio-based course, you'll need to upload a link of your digital portfolio to the Applicant Portal in order to secure your interview date. Take a look at our Portfolio advice page for tips on what to include in your portfolio.

If you don't have a completed portfolio from this year, don't worry. You can use one of our Falmouth Challenges to help you develop a portfolio.

    Pitch

If you're applying for a non-portfolio or non-performance based course, then you need to respond to one of our Falmouth Challenges in the form of a pitch. A pitch is a persuasive presentation, making the case for a big idea. You'll present your pitch to us in your interview and there is no need to upload any files in advance.

Additional application support during the pandemic

We understand that the pandemic might mean you don’t have access to all your work or the facilities you usually would have. This might mean that it’s more challenging for you to create your portfolio or record your performance. We don’t want you to worry about this so we’ve provided some helpful advice to support you on our preparing for your interview page.

    5. Your offer

We try to make a decision within five working days of your interview. However, we want everyone to have a fair chance, so popular courses can take longer.

    Offer types

There are two types of offer you could receive:

Conditional offer: You'll need to fulfil some conditions before starting your studies, like getting certain A-Levels and meeting our English language requirements.

Unconditional offer: You don't have any conditions to fulfil prior to starting the course, you have secured a place. We'll get in touch with you about next steps.

    6. Accepting your offer

If you applied via UCAS, log in to UCAS Apply & Track to accept your offer.

If you applied directly with us, you can accept your offer through the Applicant Portal

We'll save your place as soon as you accept a conditional or unconditional offer, and we'll let you know if we need any more information.

If you're wondering how your application's coming along, or you're worried that you won't meet your conditions, our Applicant Services team is on hand to help. Get in touch using the details below.
