Caroline Sassoon Emerging Artist Award
The Caroline Sassoon Emerging Artist Award is being launched on 11th October 2018, to commemorate the occasion of 100 years since Caroline’s birth.
Caroline lived her later years near Fowey in Cornwall, but for many years travelled and lived abroad, most notably in Africa, where she drew renditions of local African life; illustrated the book ‘Friends and Enemies’ by Naomi Mitchison; and even wrote and illustrated her own book ‘Chinese Porcelain in Fort Jesus’. Caroline had an ever-expanding interest in all art, from cave paintings to David Hockney, and believed that you never stop learning.
The award is being offered by Caroline’s family who wish to continue her legacy by supporting artists’ development and enabling courage and exploration within an individual’s practise.
The award is open to level 3 BA(Hons) Fine Art and BA(Hons) Drawing students.
